(Border Patrol gets a new, permanent Chief)...The announcement was made Thursday by Commissioner Kevin K. McAleenan

. Carla L. Provost becomes the 18th Chief of the U.S. Border Patrol. Provost has served as the acting Chief since April 2017. Before that she was the Deputy Chief. In 2006 Provost was promoted to assistant Chief Patrol Agent for the Yuma Sector. In 2009 she became the Patrol Agent in Charge of the Welton Station in the Yuma Sector. In 2013 Provost was named Chief Patrol Agent for the El Centro Secto0r, where she led 1,200 employees and oversaw all operations within her area of responsibility.
