Appendix 3 to Annual EEO Public File Report

Covering the Period from August 1st, 2012 to July 15th, 2013

Comprising Station Employment Unit: KXO and KXO-FM

Section 3: Supplemental (Non-Vacancy Specific) Recruitment Activities Undertaken by KXO and KXO-FM.

Imperial Valley College 2012 College and University Day and Career Fair “Expanding Opportunities in Higher Education and Careers” was held on Monday, October 8th, 2012 from 9:00 am ‘til noon inside and outside the college gym.  Over 50 employers, 25 colleges and universities participated.  Over 2100 college students, high school seniors, and community members attended the event.

Gene Brister, President and General Manager of KXO, set up a table display in the gym.  The booth featured descriptions of all job possibilities at the stations, requirements and responsibilities.  He discussed all job descriptions with all interested parties.  He further explained we had three job openings at the present time, but reminded individuals the application window would close the next day, October 9th, at 5:00 P.M.  Mr. Brister encouraged everyone to take one of our applications, fill it out, and drop it by our studios by no later than close of business the next day.  Traffic was heavy at our booth.  He had over 274 entries in a drawing for a pair of San Diego Zoo tickets and a pair of Wild Animal Park tickets.

KXO and KXO-FM co-sponsored the entire Imperial Valley College 2012 College and University Day Career Fair.

On Tuesday, December 11th, 2012 KXO President and General Manager, Gene Brister participated in the Brawley Union High School District “Employment Equals Empowerment Career Day”.  The event was held on the campus of Brawley Union High School in classroom settings between 9:00 and 11:30 a.m.

Mr. Brister made three 45-minute presentations to Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior students.  He spoke to the students about careers in radio (job descriptions, responsibilities, education needed, compensation, etc.) and encouraged each student to continue their studies.  He explained we had no job openings at the present time, but explained individuals were welcome to drop by the studios, fill out one of our job applications, and place it on file.
