The Freshman Program at San Diego State University- Imperial Valley continues to thrive and grow each academic year. “This year we expect to meet a maximum capacity of 50 incoming freshmen,” said Norma A. Aguilar, freshman recruiter for San Diego State University-IV. "Our goal is to make all local students aware that they have another option for higher education in the Imperial Valley.”
"Students in the Freshman Program at SDSU-IV have the opportunity to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Liberal Studies or Psychology at the Calexico campus and are able to enjoy the advantages of a small campus and the savings of living at home. “Students attending our campus have the benefit of attending smaller classes where they develop strong academic bonds with their professors and peers,” said Aguilar. “The housing cost savings for students attending SDSU-IV are considerable—over $8,000.” Scholarships and financial aid are also available for incoming SDSU-IV freshmen. In May, Aguilar will join other UC and private college recruiters during Higher Education Week to encourage high school juniors on exploring their higher education options early. “We also encourage visits to our campus; we provide middle or high school group tours or individual student/parent tours—we want students, teachers and parents to feel welcome here at San Diego State University,” said Aguilar. |
