Yuma, Arizona - Two hundred thirty seven degrees will be awarded during commencement exercise Friday, May 18th, at 8:00 p.m.  To be held in conjunction with Arizona Western College’s graduation, the combined event will be in the amphitheater area on the campus shared by AWC and NAU-Yuma.

This year, graduates represent the most diversity in degree programs in the 19 year history  of Northern Arizona University in Yuma, with 36 different degrees being awarded.  This graduating class includes our first BSED in Secondary Education with a major emphasis in Earth Science, along with 4 graduates who will receive BS degrees in Environmental Science and Biology.

Twenty graduates will receive BS degrees in Criminal Justice.  BAS degrees in Applied Science with major emphasis in Computer Technology will be awarded to 6.  BSED degrees in Special and Elementary Education will be awarded to 18.

More than 35% of those to be graduated are within the age range for traditional college and university students, age 20 to 25.  The majority of these are recent graduates and transfers from Arizona Western College.

An equal proportion, another 35%, are from non-traditional age groups.  Almost 16% of the graduates are over 40 years of age, with 7 of those being over the age of 50.
