Imperial Irrigation District honored 14 high school seniors on May 22 for academic excellence with scholarship awards to help them pursue higher education. "All the applicants were extremely capable, intelligent and highly motivated high school seniors," said Dee Bradshaw, scholarship committee chair.

The applicants are dependents of IID employees, have obtained a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above and will be attending an accredited college or university in the fall.

Scholarships of $500 each were awarded to the four most outstanding students:

• Thomas James Alexander, Brawley Union High School.

California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo/architecture.

• Adrian Escalera, Central Union High School.

University of California, Los Angeles/electrical and civil engineering and environmental law.

• Allyson Rodrigues, Holtville High School.

Azusa Pacific University and San Diego State University, Imperial Valley Campus/psychology.

• Disan Suarez, Calipatria High School.

Lewis and Clark College/biochemistry.

 

Scholarships valued at $300 each were awarded to:

• John E. Ceseña, Central Union High School.

San Diego State University, Imperial Valley campus/psychology.

• Danielle Remington, Brawley Union High School.

California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo/biology.

• Brittany Seeger, Imperial High School.

San Diego State University, Imperial Valley Campus/teaching/business management.

• Anthony Valera, Chatsworth High School.

University of California, Irvine/bioengineering.

 

Scholarships, each valued at $200, were awarded to:

• Loren Darr, Imperial High School.

Biola University/biochemistry/human biology.

• Ismael Gomez, Central Union High School.

Imperial Valley College/electronics engineering.

• Casey Hale, Brawley Union High School.

San Diego State University, Imperial Valley Campus/history.

• Ashley Ramos, La Quinta High School.

California Lutheran University/sociology/criminal justice.

• Ricardo Torres, Central Union High School.

Imperial Valley College/engineering/architecture.

• Sydney Turner, Southwest High School.

San Diego State University, San Diego/English literature/communications.
