San Diego State University, Calexico - The third annual “Explore SDSU IV Week” celebration commemorating San Diego State University-Imperial Valley Campus’ 49 years of quality education will occur in March. The schedule features academic, arts and other events open to the community. 
 
The week kicks-off with a Scholarship Gala on Friday, March 7 from 6 to 9 p.m. The theme this year is On The Road To GOLD celebrating our international students, faculty, programs and partners. The cost is $75.00 per person and $25.00 for SDSU students. Reservations can be made by calling the Office of Advancement at (760) 768-5587. 
 
The 9th Annual Binational Youth Leadership Conference will be held on Saturday, March 8 from 8am to 2 pm. This conference was developed to inform youth from the Imperial and Mexicali Valleys about educational opportunities, leadership skills while empowering them with guidance techniques. 
 
A presentation followed by a play of the life and work of Sor Juana Inez de La Cruz will take place in the Rodney Auditorium from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, March 10.
 
Dr. Marion Liebowitz, a renowned clarinetist of international caliber, will be in concert accompanied by pianist, Richard Thompson in the Rodney Auditorium from 6:30-8:00 p.m. on March 11.
 
A book presentation entitled Memoirs of a Lechuguero by Lucio Padilla Sr., an SDSU-IV alum, will take place along with a reception in the campus library from 3 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12.
 
The Associated Student Council have many fun activities planned on March 12 from 12 to 4 p.m.
 
A reception on Thursday, March 13 will open an exhibit entitled “Milton Brummett: His Desert from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the John Steppling Art Gallery. The paintings will be on display from March 13 through April 11.  
 
The week long schedule of events closes with the Migrant Education Conference on March 14. The conference will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  
 
“San Diego State University-Imperial Valley Campus invites everyone to a week of fun and learning,” said Dr. Lasisi Ajayi, Chair of the Cultural Arts Board at SDSU-IV.
