Destination College - The College-Going Initiative is the collective name for a number of events and programs related to college preparedness. The mission of the Initiative is to work with interested parties in increasing the number of eligible students for post secondary institutions and to ensure their attendance. Higher Education Week-I is a can’t miss event in the Imperial Valley.

Higher Education Week I in the Imperial Valley was bigger and better than every before.  Collaborative efforts from the University of California Office of the President, California State University, Imperial Valley College, Private Universities, MESA, Cal-Soap, Imperial County Office of Education, P-16 Partners and the staff from all 8 high schools, made this year’s event a big success.

2400 students participated in a college readiness presentation and then separated into application workshops.  18 college recruiters were on hand to deliver information and make connections with our students. 

Over 490 parents attended the evening workshops at all eight school sites, surpassing last years total for the event. Recruiters were pleased to see a great outcome.  Counselors worked hard to deliver the information to parents and the results were evident by the turnout.
