SDSU - Brawley Will Host Lecture on Tectonic Plates PDF Print E-mail

Brawley, California - On Thursday, February 21 at 6:30 p.m. in Room 108, San Diego State University-Imperial Valley Campus, 560 East Highway 78 in Brawley, Jayme Margolin, of the Education and Outreach Department of UNAVCO, will speak on “Earthscope: Revealing the Earth’s Secrets”, how her organization explores the structure and evolution of the North American continent and tectonic plates using Global Positioning System (GPS). 
 
UNAVCO, an independent non-profit corporation funded by NASA and the National Science Foundation (NSF), supports research using high-precision techniques for measuring crustal deformation, including GPS, borehole strainmeters, tiltmeters, Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR), and Light Distance and Ranging (LIDAR). Margolin’s presentation, free and open to the public, will be sponsored by the Faculty Lecture Series at SDSU-Imperial Valley Campus.  Simultaneous English-Spanish interpretation will be provided by the students of the campus court interpreting certificate program.
