(More bad news for the Salton Sea, but it is not environmental news)....Geologists say the Salton Sea/Coachella Valley area of the San Andreas fault is over-due for a major earthquake. Speaking at a recent conference at the University of Southern California, the scientists said that area of the San Andreas fault had not experienced a major earthquake in 300 years. They predicted a major quake measuring over 7 could rupture the ground for up to 200 miles, causing significant damage, mostly in the more populated Coachella Valley. The Geologists did not venture a prediction as to when the next major quake would strike. They only said one was over-due.
