(Cocaine seized at checkpoint)…The seizure came at the Interstate 8 checkpoint between Campo and Pine Valley. Border Patrol agents Wednesday stopped at Chevy Malibu. The vehicle was being driven by a 38 year old Mexican man. The agents used a K-9 to search the vehicle. The drug detector dog alerted to hidden compartments in the floorboard. The compartments were under the drivers and passenger seats. Inside the agents discovered 26 tightly wrapped bundles of cocaine. The bundles weighed 66 pounds. The narcotic was valued at $644,000. The driver and his 37-year-old female passenger, also a Mexican citizen, were arrested. The vehicle and cocaine were seized.
