(Allied recycling Christmas trees)….The program is for customers in Brawley, Calexico, Holtville, Imperial and the unincorporated area of the County

. Allied Waste Services of Imperial Valley says their recycling program began Monday. Allied Division Manager Hector Araujo says they will be picking up Christmas trees from their customers and recycling them, providing state mandated diversion credits for cities throughout the Imperial Valley. They are asking their customers to set their trees out on any designated collection day. The recycling program will continue through January 31. The trees will be collected at no extra charge to their customers. Araujo says all customers have to do is remove all the decorations, including ornaments and tinsel, and place the tree next to their waste containers on collection day. The trees are recycled into mulch, preserving valuable landfill space.
