(Supervisors to continue to discuss Green program)….The discussion is carried over from the Board’s last meeting. It is the Green Retrofit and Workforce Development Program. Under the program, the Mechanical and Allied Crafts unions would help the County pursue an ARRA grant for up to $5 million; in turn, an agreement would be approved by the Supervisors to give the unions exclusive rights to the jobs created through the grant. The issue was discussed at length last Board meeting, but the Supervisors said they wanted to extend the discussion a week to receive input from County staff concerning the program, specifically the amount of time needed to put the grant application together and submitted on time. The deadline for the application is December 14. The Supervisors will also discuss the reduction of Air Pollution Control District Operational Development fees for the next calendar year. The Board convenes at 8:30 Tuesday morning in the Administration Center on Main Street in El Centro.
