(Calexico is Rocking the Border)…A musical concert is being set-up at the border.

From 3:00 to 11:00 pm tonight, 7-9 bands and a D.J. will be playing for whoever wants to show-up. The Concert is being put on by the Calexico Chamber of Commerce, with assistance from the City. The purpose is to bring attention to the long lines it takes to get across the border. The theme is “Efficiency is Security.” Calexico City Manager Victor Carrillo says the cities Police Department will be providing security for the event. He said officers have cross-trained with Border Patrol agents to handle crowds. Mexicali authorities have been notified, and they have promised to keep attendees on the Mexicali side of the border at the park nearby, to avoid people trying to jump the fence. Carrillo says half the parking lot at the Orthopedic Center at First and Mary has been fenced off, and a stage set-up. Space has been made available to allow the Border Patrol access to the border fence.
