(Law Enforcement prepares for long Holiday)…The Thanksgiving Day Holiday is one of the busiest for Law Enforcement.

Up to 200,000 off-road enthusiasts could visit the Imperial Sand Dune Recreational areas during the long holiday period. The County Sheriff’s Office says they are under-staffed and under-financed, but they are prepared to patrol the Dunes and maintain control. The Deputies are assisted by Law Enforcement officers from San Diego, Riverside and other Counties, as well as federal Rangers. The California Highway Patrol goes into their Maximum Enforcement at 6:00 Wednesday evening. The Holiday patrol will continue through mid-night Monday morning. Maximum Enforcement is when as many officers as possible are assigned to the roadways, looking for drunk or otherwise impaired drivers, seatbelt, and other violations.
