(Drug seizures up 20%)….Customs and Border Protection issues their report for the past fiscal year.

The fiscal year ended September 30. The report indicates 145 tons of narcotics were seized at the U.S./Mexico Ports of Entry in San Diego and Imperial Counties. Seizures of methamphetamine increased 82%, Heroin by 51%, and Marijuana seizures increased by 21%. Cocaine seizures were down by 13%. The report says 556,000 illegal immigrants were arrested and 9,500 people wanted for a variety of crimes were taken into custody. Border Patrol agents in the El Centro Sector were responsible for 340 drug seizures, including 17,500 pounds of marijuana, 170 pounds of cocaine, 37 pounds of methamphetamine and 450 ounces of Heroin. The combined street value comes in to $21 million. The El Centro CBP Air Branch was responsible for the apprehension of 2,814 undocumented migrants and the seizure of 16,102 pounds of narcotics and 38 vehicles.
