(Another Air Quality Alert in Calexico)…The Air Pollution Control District issued the latest Alert at 1:00 Friday morning. For most of this week, Air Quality has been Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups in the Calexico area. Elevated levels of PM 2.5 have been recorded for five of the past seven days. Officials attribute the poor air quality to traffic in the area. Vehicle emissions are responsible for most of the PM 2.5. The finite Particulate Matter can cause serious lung problems. The Sensitive or At Risk Groups are those with Respiratory of Heart Disease, Children and the Elderly. It is recommended that those At Risk should postpone outdoor activities until particulate levels are lower. |
