U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Calexico seized over $1.1 million worth of methamphetamine, cocaine, hashhish and marijuana on Monday and Tuesday of this week. At about 11:45 p.m. Monday , a 33-year old woman , a U.S. citizen and resident of Mexicali , was referred to secondary inspection where officers discovered 16 wrapped packages of marijuana,cocaine and hashhish weighing a total of 68 pounds was found in the vehicles gas tank and spare tire. The narcotics are valued at approximately $485,000. At about 6:30 Tuesday morning , a 30-year old man, a U.S. citizen who resides in Calexico , was referred to secondary examination for further inspection where a detector dog led officers to 18 wrapped packages of methamphetamine concealed in a non-factory compartment under the rear seats. The drugs weighed 29 pounds and have a street value of over $300,000. A third seizure occurred at about 8:00 Tuesday morning at the Calexico downtown port of entry when officers arrested a 41-year old woman , a U.S. citizen from Los Angeles , after 23 packages of methamphetamine weighing 38 pounds was found concealed in her car. Street value of the narcotic is approximately $399,000. All three suspects were turned over to the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement ( ICE ) agentsfor further investigation |
