(Over 70 pounds of cocaine seized)…Border Patrol Agents found the drugs Monday morning.

At around 7:00 in the morning a Chevy Silverado pick-up pulled into the inspection station on Interstate 8, between Campo and Pine Valley. The driver of the vehicle is being identified only as a 33 year old male Mexican National, legal resident. He was directed to the secondary inspection area. A k-9 team conducted an exterior search of the vehicle. The k-9 reportedly alerted on the vehicle, prompting a more detailed search. Agents discovered modified compartments within the rear quarter panels of the vehicle. Inside the compartments agents pulled out 25 wrapped bundles of cocaine. The cocaine weighed in at 71 pounds, with a street value of $710,000. The drugs and vehicle were seized, the driver placed under arrest.
