(Four killed in Mexicali shoot-out)….One of those killed was a Mexicali Police Officer.

The incident occurred Saturday night. Police say the participants in the shoot-out were having a late dinner at the taco shop El Poblano on Xochimilco and Anahuac Boulevard. At just after 10:00 pm an argument ensued. Officials say the participants got into two different pick-ups, and drove off shooting at each other. Police say they were using AK-47 weapons. A police officer, Juan Alberto Lopez Lopez, was patrolling the area. He attempted to stop the vehicles, but was shot and killed. One of the pick-ups, a Red Toyota, finally stopped on its own. The couple inside escaped from the vehicle. Police say 44-year-old Roberto Barragan Cardenas was found suffering five gunshot wounds. A female, 45 year old Elena Guadalupe Quintero Ayon, was found suffering six gunshot wounds. Both survived and were transported to the Cities General Hospital. Police say they found another victim in the Colonia Venustiano Carranza. He was transported to the Hospital, but died from his wounds. Two other victims were found, dead from gunshot wounds. The names of the civilian victims were not released.
