(The Great California Shake-out)….Today is the day the State prepares for a possible major earthquake.

It is also the 30 year Anniversary of the 1979 quake that rattled Imperial County. That quake measured 6.6 and caused millions of dollars in damages. 91 people were injured, but fortunately, there were no injuries. The 79 quake toppled the County Building, as well as major damages to public and private buildings throughout the county. Sylvia Preciado of the American Red Cross says preparedness should be practiced everyday in Imperial County, especially earthquake preparedness. Government offices, schools and private businesses throughout the state held preparedness drills and lectures throughout the day.
