Calexico Council reorganizes

(Calexico has a new Mayor)….David Ouzan takes over for out-going Mayor Louis Fuentes. Ouzan was introduced as the new Mayor at a mixer Tuesday evening. The Calexico City Council Reorganization Mixer was hosted by the Calexico Chamber of Commerce. It was held at the Calexico Cultural Arts Center. Mayor Pro-tem for the next year will be Councilman John Moreno. Ouzan will take over the gavel at the next City Council meeting. He will wrap up his tenure as Mayor with a run for the Imperial Irrigation District Board. Ouzan has already announced his candidacy for the Division One seat currently held by Director Mike Abatti. Former IID Director Rudy Maldonado has also announced plans to run for the Abatti seat. Abatti has not said officially, but has indicated he has no intention of seeking re-election.
