(Schools to get funds for Lunch Programs)….State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O’Connell the grants. O’Connell says 242 School Food Authorities in 48 California Counties will share $12.8 million in 2009 Equipment Assistance Grants. He says the funding is critically needed by districts and other agencies to buy new or replace outdated and inefficient food preparation equipment so they can boost the amount and quality of meals offered to students. The Grants are part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. In Imperial County, the El Centro Elementary School District is being granted $53,618, Central Union High School District is receiving $40,014, and the San Pasqual Valley Unified School District is getting $7,460. |
