Hashem Now Interim-City Manager

Calexico has named Finance Director Judy Hashem Interim-City Manager. The appointment was made last night during a closed session meeting of the Calexico City Council and became effective this morning. Hashem will be in charge of day to day operations of the city. Former City Manager Ralph Velez resigned June 17 and Mayor Louis Fuentes was named to fill the position on an interim basis at that time. The city council said in June that they expected to name a new City Manager by the end of July. Former councilman and current Imperial County Supervisor Victor Carrillo has made it known that he would like the job.
