Congressman Bob Filner said that the Bureau of Land Management  will be directed to resume trash collection services in the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area.
Representative Filner included this requirement in the Bureau of Land Mangement ( BLM ) funding bill that was recently passed by the House of Representatives. " For years , our public lands management agencies have been underfunded to the point that they couldn't afford basic maintenance of our national parks and public lands , which forced them to cut essential services ," said Rep. Filner. " Keeping our federal lands free of trash is not a luxury - it's an essential government function! Congress must provide sufficient funding to keep our parks and public lands clean and open to the public."
The House-passed bill provides increased funding for the BLM and includes the following report language: The Committee is concerned about the Bureau of Land Management decision to stop trash collection services in the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area , CA and expects BLM to restore trash pick-up services.
