"Below The Sea" Theme For 2010 Fair

The 2010 California Mid-Winter Fair and Fiesta will celebrate the Imperial Valleys unique geography with the theme " Below the Sea." Fair board president Cherisse Alford says the theme will "celebrate the unique aspect that a lot of Imperial Valley is below sea level. It will also highlight the unique agriculture products and places in the Valley. Alford was recently elected to serve as board president for the coming year. Bo Shropshire will be vice president and Lee Hindman will continue as treasurer. Alford is Vice President Corporate Relations for Alford Distributing , a family owned beverage distributer in Imperial County. Shropshire is a saleman for Helena Chemical in Brawley. Other fair board members are: Darrel Bostic, Richard Acosta, Joe Montenegro, Richard Fragale, Jason Jackson and James Hamilton. The board is resonsible for the operation of the 45th District Agricultural Association , the organization that administers the Imperial Valley Expo and the California Mid-Winter Fair. Each member is appointed by the governor to serve a four year term.
