Border Patrol agent arrested for sexual assault

(Sexual Assault may have occurred in Imperial County)…Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 41-year-old Luis Edward Hermosillo last week. The arrest came following a weeklong investigation. Deputies had responded to an Indio area hospital who reported a 24-year-old woman had been sexually assaulted. The suspect is a Border Patrol agent with the Indio Sector Border Patrol. The investigation indicates Hermosillo was working a checkpoint near Salton City on Highway 86 when the assault took place. The suspected reportedly directed the woman to drive to a secluded place, where he assaulted her. There are indications the victims five-year-old child witnessed at least part of the assault. Hermosillo is being charged with kidnapping with intent to commit sexual assault, sexual penetration, and sexual penetration under the color of authority. His bail was set at $1 million.
