Marijuana seized in the mountains

(Over 700 pounds of marijuana seized)….The dope was found in separate incidents in the Mountains between Campo and Pine Valley. The first seizure occurred at the Border Patrol Checkpoint on Interstate 8. A Ford 250 pick-up was detained. Agents discovered several false compartments in the truck, including in the bed. Inside the compartments, they found almost 500 pounds of marijuana. The two people in the pick-up, both males, one 20 and the other 22 years of age, were taken into custody. Both men are U.S. Residents. The vehicle had come from Tijuana. Later a 60-year-old man was stopped near Campo. Inside the Ford Bronco he was driving, agents found 226 pounds of marijuana. Agents say the man had smuggled the dope across the border from Tecate. The unidentified 60 year old is also a U.S. resident.
