(A special Memorial March will be held Saturday)… The Special March is in Memory of Marie Dugan.

The 16-year-old sophomore at Southwest High School died May 29 from an asthma attack. The event will be held Saturday at the Imperial Valley Mall. Registration is at 6:30 am. The march will be from 7:00 to 9:00 am. A registration booth will be located near Cinemark Theaters, at the entrance to the Mall. The March is being sponsored by the Imperial Valley Child Asthma Program and El Centro Regional Medical Center. The March will promote the seriousness of childhood asthma. More than 4,000 children, teens and adults die from asthma each year. Most deaths can be prevented with treatment. They say every asthmatic should have a written asthma management plan. A Memorial fund account has been opened at El Centro Community Federal Credit Union under the name of “Marie Dugan Memorial Fund” for those wishing to assist the family with funeral expenses.
