Minor Earthquakes Shake North and South Imperial County PDF Print E-mail

3 minor earthquakes in the last 24 hours have rattled the northend and southend of the Imperial Valley. The first earthquake measured 3.6 on the Richter Scale and was recorded at 3:37 PM Saturday afternoon. The epicenter was 44 miles south of Calexico. Then at 9:42 PM Saturday evening a quake measuring 3.0 was measured by Caltech equiptment at Obsidion Butte at the southern end of the Salton Sea. 18 minutes later a temblor measuring 3.3 was recorded at Obsidion Butte. Ten smaller earthquakes measuring between 1.6 and 2.9 have been recorded in the Obsidion Butte area in the last 24 hours. There are no reports of injury or damage. Both areas are among the most seismically active in the country.
