Weekend Statistics For Local Highway Patrol

The California Highway Patrol says that numbers for the 2009 Memorial Day Weekend were pretty close to 2008. The El Centro Sector of the California Highway Patrol reports that the bad news is that there was a slight increase in the number of minor traffic accidents over the weekend and the good news is that there were no fatalities. The 2009 stats show an increase in non-injury accidents over last year , 4 this year , 3 last year. Minor injury accidents increased as well. Just 1 reported last year but 5 this year. There was one traffic fatality last year and none this year. Arrests for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs remained the same at 22 arrests each year.
