(If you drink this three-day weekend don’t drive)….Law Enforcement will be out in force to remind those who ignore that message..

The Avoid the Ten Task Force and California Highway Patrol plan a massive coverage of the Imperial County roadways this weekend. The Task Force is a joint effort between several participating law enforcement agencies. They will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in Calexico tonight. Saturation Patrols will be conducted in Calexico, El Centro, Brawley and Imperial all weekend long. Participating Police Department conduct the Saturation Patrols. The CHP goes into their Maximum Enforcement Period tonight. They will continue through mid-night Memorial Day. Maximum Enforcement is when every available officer is given over-time to patrol the roadways. The CHP says they will be looking at all violations, but they will especially be looking for drunk or impaired drivers and seatbelt violations. The crackdown patrols are funded through grants from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
