Fire contained to attic

(Residential fire in new development)…The fire was reported at 8:00 pm Wednesday in the 800 block of Kinbig in Brawley. The County and El Centro Fire Departments provided mutual aid. The Westmorland Department covered the Brawley Station. Lt. Mike York of the Brawley Department was the residential fire was contained pretty much to the attic of the home. He said there was one person in the residence at the time of the fire, but neighbors were able to warn the person, and they escaped uninjured. None of the fire personnel was injured. York said a damage estimate is not available. He said the cause of the blaze is under investigation.
