The Arizona Western College Lady Matador Volleyball team (20-17) eliminated Yavapai College (15-18) by winning their round 1 district finals match (30-27,30-25,30-22) Thurday evening. This marks the 9th straight season that the AWC Volleyball team has posted 20 or more wins.
The Lady Matador's Head Coach Jason Smith stated, “We were truly led by the Region I Finals MVP, Fouga Wooley. Obviously, her leadership as a setter was huge, but she came through big-time with blocking and setting as well.” Coach Smith continued, “We had a very consistent, focused effort tonight. We’ve played better than this before, but tonight, we just never lost sight of the fact that we were here to win a match, and win it in 3. Lots of players showed up in a lot of different areas.
