The Arizona Western College Matadors men's soccer team (1-5) lost to 3rd ranked Yavapai Community College (6-1) by the score of 2-1. Goaltender Santiago Ruiz was dubbed “ Man of the Match” for the Matadors for his strong play in the net (9 saves).
Matador Head Coach Kenny Dale stated, “Great effort… just not enough. We gave up the game-winning goal with 3 minutes left in the first half. That’s what we emphasized: the first 5 minutes and last 5 minutes of every half. But this is our best effort so far. We have to get a few more guys healthy, and as long as we keep getting better, that’s all I care about.”
