The Arizona Western College Matadors Football Team (2-8) came out on the short side of the scoreboard in a hard fought gridiron battle against 13th ranked Mesa Community College (8-2) at home (homecoming) losing to MCC 42-35.
AWC was led by the passing of quarterback Will Brogan's 15-39 passing for 261 yards, 4 TDs and 1 Interception.

Arizona Western College football head coach James Pryor stated, “I’m proud of our effort to battle back and make it a game in the 4th quarter. Congratulations to Mesa for being the team to get the Valley of the Sun Bowl. They made the plays when they had to today, but we kept battling, and made it a heck of a homecoming ball game against the 13th-ranked team in the nation.”
