Arizona Western College’s season opener was marred by 31 combined penalties and 9 turnovers.

AWC was led by Tramell McGill’s 103-yard rushing effort and touchdown run of 2 yards in the third quarter, Joe Nairn’s 6 receptions for 86 yards, and Zach Appenzeller’s (14-28, 124 yard, 2 interception, 1 rushing TD) leadership.

Matador Coach James Pryor stated, "We’re thankful for the win.  Our guys played hard.  It was a great way to start out the season, but we certainly have to play smarter football from now on.”

AWC’s (1-0)  next game is at Phoenix College Saturday @ 7:00PM
