The Arizona Western College Matador baseball team (5-7) split a doubleheader to Gateway Community College (4-6) dropping the first game 5-3 and winning the second game 13-1 behind the pitching of Tyler Shaddy (2-0).
Matador head coach John Stratton stated, “We’re not displeased with the day’s effort. We played pretty solid baseball all day. Sometimes, you just can’t always put together an effort big enough to get the runs when you need them in the 7-inning games. You have to give credit to Gateway, because they played really well, and made the plays when they had to.” AWC’s Next Games: doubleheader: at Glendale Community College Saturday Noon (Glendale, AZ). |
