The Arizona Western College Matador baseball team (16-13) split their two games in the 2nd day of the Aztec Classic in Tucson, Arizona losing the first game to 18th ranked Sank Valley College (1-3) 1-2,  then winning the afternoon contest by beating Williston (1-2) 2-1. AWC head coach John Stratton stated,  “I told the guys after the game that there are sometimes games like this.  You just have to stay with the game plan, and other things besides hitting will make the difference:  good defense, timely pitching, etc.  We might really bounce back offensively tomorrow against what are typically the two top out-of-state teams in the tournament (12th-ranked New Mexico and 6th-ranked Indian Hills).”

AWC’s Next Game:              vs. (12) New Mexico Saturday 1:30PM (Aztec Classic-Tucson)
