The Arizona Western College Matador Baseball team (15-12) split their opening day games of the Aztec Classic in Tucson yesterday defeating Northeastern College (11-7) 5-4 in the opener, then dropping the days final game 6-5 to Lamar College (6-9).
AWC head coach John Stratton stated, “The biggest thing is that we pitched pretty well. The characteristic that carried through the day-despite having double-digit hits in both games-was that we stranded way too many runners. And, for the first time in several games, we weren’t good defensively in the 2nd game.” AWC’s Next Game: vs. Sauk Valley Friday 10AM (Aztec Classic-Tucson) |
