For the forth consecutive year the 10th Ranked Arizona Western College Basketball team (26-5) advanced to the Division 1 region finals by tromping Cochise Community College (20-12) last night by the score of 80-63.
Matador head coach Kelly Green stated, “I was really proud of our guys tonight, because they really got after it defensively, and set the intensity level early. Eddie (Lima) did a great job all night tonight, and I was so proud of him. Akeem (Royal) has been working awfully hard in practice, and it’s nice to see him hit the shots in the game itself. It’s amazing what that can do for the rest of your offense when the shots from the outside start falling like that.” AWC’s Next Basketball Game: Region I Finals at #1 Eastern Arizona Saturday 7:30PM (Thatcher) In other Arizona Western College the Lady Matadors softball team (19-13) was swept in a doubleheader by Eastern Arizona College (18-3-3) by the shutout scores of 7-0 & 2-0. The Arizona Western College Mens baseball team (14-11) defeated Grays Harbor College 11-0 going into to their week off 11-0. |
