Yuma, Arizona - Arizona Western College is proud to announce that the 2008 Arizona Western Girls’ Basketball Camp will be held Monday through Thursday, June 30^th through July 3^rd at ‘The House-the gymnasium on the AWC campus. AWC Women’s Head Basketball Coach Patrick Cunningham, Assistant Coaches Marisol Arenivas and Stephanie Jauregui as well as current Lady Matadors’ basketball players will provide expert instruction to up-and-coming girls' basketball players of all skill levels. There will be two different sessions of the camp each day, with the morning session targeting girls ages 7 through 12, and the afternoon session held for girls ages 13-18. The morning session will be held each day from 9AM until noon, and the afternoon session will commence each of the four days at 1PM and continue until 4PM. Cunningham and his camp counselors will offer fundamental teaching stations and shooting games all throughout the camp. The cost of the camp is $65, and each camper will also receive a camp T-shirt just for participating in the camp. Available spots in the camp are on a first-come, first-served basis, and a camp flyer and registration form can be obtained by going to the AWC Athletics website (www.azwestern.edu/athletics), clicking on the Women’s Basketball page, and then clicking on the flyer itself; by contacting Coach Cunningham either by phone at (928) 317-6312 or by e-mailing him at patrick.cunningham@azwestern.edu; or by contacting Coach Arenivas either by phone at (928) 317-6057 or by e-mailing her at marisol.arenivas@azwestern.edu. All four days of the camp (and registration) will be held at ‘The House’, which is at the northeast corner of the AWC campus at 2020 South Avenue 8E in Yuma. Those wishing to register on the day of the camp should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the session that corresponds to their age group. Campers should come dressed in proper camp attire (shorts, T-shirt, socks and gym shoes). All proceeds raised by the camp will benefit the Matador Athletic Association.
